The Special Victims Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man that occurred on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 3:40 PM in Hempstead for Sexual Abuse.
According to Detectives, defendant Jose Amaya, 56 of 217 South Franklin Street, while working as a self-employed driver, did on multiple occasions have inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old female victim while driving her to and from school. On Tuesday, January 2, 2024 a verbal altercation occurred between defendant Jose Amaya and the victim’s parents once they were made aware of the inappropriate contact with their daughter. Police responded to scene and after conducting an investigation placed defendant Jose Amaya under arrest without incident.
Defendant Jose Amaya is charged with Sexual Abuse 1st degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
