The Public Information Office releases the details of a Water Emergency that occurred on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 8:23 pm in Oyster Bay.
According to police, a male 34, was walking his service dog when it entered the water to swim. The dog began to struggle and became stuck under a dock. The male notified his girlfriend of the incident and she was able to use the dog’s GPS collar to located them. She then relayed that information to police. The male entered the water to help the dog. Upon the officer’s arrival the dog was out of the water, but the male was unable to get himself out. The officer used a life preserver to assist the tired male. The Oyster Bay Fire Department responded and used a rescue line to extract the male from the water.
No injuries were reported and the aided refused medical attention.
