The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a undomiciled man for an incident that occurred on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 11:40 am in Levittown.

According to Detectives, Police responded to a Levittown residence for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Dashawn Thompkins, 46, unlawfully entered a female victim, 53, residence and was involved in a verbal argument. The victim, in fear for her safety, hid in an upstairs bedroom and called 911. 

Upon Police arrival, officers located the subject who was secreted in a nearby closet. Defendant Thompkins then refused to comply with officers demands, to exit the closet, and became violent and combative. Officers had to utilize an Electronic Control Device (ECD), Taser, which successfully allowed them to place him into custody. One Officer sustained an injury to his hand and wrist during the course of the arrest and was transported to a nearby hospital. The defendant was also transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment.  Further investigation revealed the defendant was in violation of a valid Order of Protection.

Defendant Dashawn Thompkins is charged with Burglary 2^nd Degree, Criminal Contempt 1^st Degree, Assault 2^nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Saturday, September 7, 2024 in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
