The Homicide Squad is investigating an Attempted Murder that occurred on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at approximately 1:30 AM in Hempstead.
According to the Detectives, Hempstead Police Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation at Polk Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers discovered two female victims with apparent gunshot wounds and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. One female victim is in stable condition and the other is critical. The investigation is ongoing.

Kimberly Midgette, 44, succumbed to her injuries. The second female victim, 31, was released from the hospital.

Arrested for the above crime are: Oumar Barry, 27, of 147 Terrace Avenue Hempstead and a 16-year-old male juvenile. Each Defendant is charged with Murder 2nd Degree and will be arraigned on Friday, November 3, 2023 in First District Court and the Youth Part at 99 Main Street Hempstead.

Homicide Squad Detectives report the arrest of Milton Allen, 20, of 36 Grove Street, Hempstead. He is charged with Murder 2nd. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
