Fifth Squad Detectives report the arrest of an Elmont man for an Assault that occurred on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 4:23 pm in Elmont.

According to detectives, officers responded to a 911 call for a male needing medical assistance.  Upon arrival, officers determined the male, 28, needed medical assistance and attempted to escort him from his bedroom.  The male punched the officer on the left side of his face causing swelling, a headache and substantial pain.   Officers went to place the subject in custody and he tensed up his body, tucked his arms under his chest and actively pulled his arms away from the officers.  A subject was subdued and Hurguens Jasmin, 28, of Elmont, was arrested.

A dagger was observed inside Jasmin’s apartment.

A second officer suffered lacerations, substantial pain and bleeding to his left hand and right elbow.

Both officers were transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Defendant Jasmin is charged with two (2) counts of Assault 2^nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3^rd Degree and Resisting Arrest.  He will be arraigned on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
