The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 8:25 pm in Freeport.

According to Detectives, a 77-year-old female pedestrian was crossing Merrick Road in the vicinity of South Main Street when she was struck by a 2018 Honda Accord traveling eastbound on Merrick Road. The male operator, 26, remained at the scene.

Shortly after, a 2020 Dodge Durango traveling southbound on Main Street also struck the pedestrian. The female operator, 39, remained at the scene.

The female pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital where she was soon after pronounced by hospital staff.

The investigation is ongoing.
