The Community Oriented Police Enforcement (COPE) reports the arrest of two (2) individuals during the “Project 21” initiative, which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors. The initiative was conducted on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 6:00 pm in Nassau County.
According to Police, Community Oriented Police Enforcement (COPE) officers, Nassau County Community Affairs, Town of Hempstead Building Department with the assistance of underage agents arrested the following individuals as a result of this operation:
- Nebil Asmed, 25, of 170 Biltmore Avenue, Elmont sold tobacco products to a minor at Twelve Twelve Smoke Shop located at 604 Woodfield Road, West Hempstead. He is charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree, Sale of Flavored Products Prohibited and the Sale of Tobacco Products.
- Mohanad Alteshee, 21, of 15 Mackay Place, Brooklyn sold tobacco products to a minor at LI Smokers Depot located at 700 Franklin Avenue, Franklin Square. He is charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 5th Degree, Sale of Flavored Products Prohibited and the Sale of Tobacco Products.
Defendant Nebil Asmed was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket returnable on Thursday, August 8, 2024 to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead. Defendant Mohanad Alteshee will be arraigned on Friday, July 26, 2024 in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
