The Public Information Office reports the details of a Vehicular Accident that occurred on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 1:25 am in Jericho.

According to police, a 2016 Volvo Tractor Trailer was traveling eastbound on the Long Island Expressway and struck a 2005 Isuzu in the vicinity of Exit 40E.  The male operator, 55, of the Isuzu was establishing a construction zone at the time of the accident.  The collision damaged the passenger side of the Volvo and caused the female passenger, 35, to become trapped.  Nassau County Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit responded and extracted the female.

The male operator of the Isuzu suffered neck pain.  He was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The female passenger of the Volvo suffered a minor leg injury and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

While extracting the passenger, an officer suffered a contusion to his head and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
