The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Baldwin man for a disturbance that occurred on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at 3:10 pm in Oceanside.
According to Police, officers responded to an Oceanside Polling Station located at Oceanside School #3 at 2852 Fortesque Avenue for a dispute. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Mark W. Sebesta, 54, of 2688 Soper Avenue, who was a polling worker, was involved in a verbal argument and threatened a male constituent, 25. Officers attempted to diffuse the situation when the defendant, who falsely identified himself as a law enforcement agent, became aggressive. After a brief struggle, officers were able to place the defendant into custody. The defendant was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment. The constituent was not injured and voting operations were not disrupted.
Defendant Mark W. Sebesta is charged with Menacing 3rd Degree, Harassment 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree and Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
