The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 6:55 pm in Bellmore.

According to Detectives, a male operating a black motorcycle westbound on Sunrise Highway, in the vicinity of Rose Place, struck a male bicyclist who was attempting to crossing Sunrise Highway southbound to northbound. As a result of the collision the motorcycle caught on fire. The motorcyclist was transported via Nassau County Police Helicopter to a nearby hospital with severe trauma and burns. He is listed in critical condition. The bicyclist was transported to a local area hospital with trauma injuries and is listed in stable condition.

The investigation is on-going.

The above listed motorcycle operator was pronounced deceased by a hospital physician on Friday, November 8, 2024. He is identified as Richard Sorrentino, 34, of Queens.
