The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for a Robbery and Nassau County Local Law 1-2024 Title 90-Mask Transparency Act that occurred on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 8:00 PM in East Meadow.
According to detectives, a male wearing a black ski mask entered Walmart located at 2465 Hempstead Turnpike and began concealing merchandise in his bag. The man proceeded to exit the store without making payment for the merchandise and was confronted by store security. Security recovered the merchandise and the suspect directed physical threats towards them as he was leaving the scene.
A short time later, the same subject while still wearing a black ski mask, approached a 47-year-old male in the parking lot of 2411 Hempstead Turnpike and demanded his belongings. The victim refused to comply and the subject threatened him with physical harm. Officers located the Defendant Jonathan Hernandez, 33, of 64 Lakewood Avenue in the parking lot of 2298 Hempstead Turnpike. He was arrested without incident.
Defendant Hernandez is charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Menacing 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Title 90 - Mask Transparency Act and Petite Larceny. He will be arraigned on Friday, September 27, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
