The Third Squad reports the arrest of an undomiciled male for a Grand Larceny that occurred on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 11:15 a.m. in Mineola.
According to Detectives, the female victim, 69, parked her 2011 white Corolla Toyota in a marked parking spot on Jericho Turnpike and left the keys in the center console. The victim was returning to her vehicle when she observed it drive away eastbound on Jericho Turnpike by an unknown subject. She called 911 and reported the incident. Officers observed the vehicle driving westbound on Jericho Turnpike in the vicinity of Old Courthouse Road. Officers activated their emergency lights and attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop but the vehicle refused to pull over. A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a parked car on Central Avenue near 2nd Street in Garden City Park. Eleya Dah, 27, was arrested without incident.
Dah was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
Defendant Dah is charged with Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday, September 20, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
