The Third Squad reports the arrest of a New Cassel man for an Assault that occurred on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:40 PM in Westbury.

According to Detectives, an investigation into a past domestic incident was being conducted by Third Squad Detectives that led them to the residence of defendant Gustavo Salas Jimenez, 23 of 234 Grand Boulevard, Westbury. As Detectives were knocking on the front door, defendant Gustavo attempted to flee the residence through the backdoor. Detectives attempted to place defendant Gustavo under arrest, but he resisted. Four males ages 15, 16, 16, 19 and a 20-year-old female came out of the residence and caused a disturbance, physically interfering with Detectives. Two Detectives were injured during the course of arrest of the six defendants. The two Detectives sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment.

Defendant’s Gustavo Salas Jimenez and a 16-year-old male juvenile are both charged with Assault 2^nd degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2^nd degree. They will both be arraigned on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.

The 15, 16 and 19-year-old males and 20-year-old female defendants are all charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2^nd degree. Additionally, the 20-year-old female is also charged with Menacing 2^nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th degree. All four were issued appearance tickets returnable on Sunday, February 4^th, 2024 at First District Court.
