The Homicide Squad reports on a Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 5:14AM in Uniondale.

According to Detectives, Officers responded for an auto accident that occurred on Jerusalem Avenue near the intersection of Liberty Street. Upon arrival, Officers observed an overturned blue 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had struck a pole. A 35-year-old passenger was located inside of the vehicle and removed by Officers. He was transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. He sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition. A 45-year-old male who was also an occupant of the vehicle at the time of the incident was located walking nearby and transported to a nearby hospital for assessment and treatment. The investigation is ongoing.

The above male victim has been identified as Alex Jose Banegas Figueroa, 35, of Plainview. He was pronounced at Nassau University Medical Center by a hospital physician on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 4:54 pm.
