The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for the Assault on an officer that occurred on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:20 am.

According to detectives, defendant Frank Sanders, 59, of 27 Ablemarle Avenue was transported to Nassau University Medical Center located at 2201 Hempstead Turnpike for assessment after being arrested for possession of a controlled substance. While at the hospital, officers were informed by hospital staff that defendant Sanders became aggressive. An officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. The officer was treated by medical personnel and later released.

Defendant Sanders is charged with Assault 2^nd Degree and two counts of criminal possession controlled substance 7^th degree.  He will be arraigned on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at First District Court, Hempstead.
