The First Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead female for an incident that occurred on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 1:02 pm in East Meadow.
According to Detectives, Defendant Tomeka Barton, 46, of 25 Tyler Avenue entered Flagstar Bank located at 1900 Hempstead Turnpike. The defendant attempted to open a business account and withdraw a significant amount of US currency with identification that did not belong to her. Additionally, the defendant intentionally wore a mask to conceal her identity. Bank employees recognized the female subject, as someone who attempted to open up accounts the week prior; at a different location and immediately contacted police. Upon police arrival, the defendant was placed under arrest without incident.
Defendant Tomeka Barton is charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, Identity Theft 1st Degree, Forgery 2nd Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny 2nd Degree, Criminal Impersonation 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification 3rd Degree and Title 90- Mask Transparency Act. She will be arraigned on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
