The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of a undomiciled man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 4:00 pm in North Lawrence.
According to Detectives, Officers responded to McDonalds located at 365 Rockaway Turnpike for a suspicious male with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Antonio Reyes, 47, was involved in a verbal argument with two female juvenile ages 14 and 15. The argument escalated and the Defendant Reyes pointed a knife at the juveniles placing them in fear for their life. The juveniles immediately ran from the location and contacted police.
A short time later, officers located the defendant and attempted to place him into custody when he began menacing officers with the knife and disregarded numerous verbal commands. Officers utilize an Electronic Control Device (ECD) and Oleoresin Capsicum spray (OC spray) which successfully allowed them to place him into custody. The defendant was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Defendant Antonio Reyes is charged with Menacing a Police Officer, two counts of Menacing 2nd Degree two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
