The Third Squad reports the arrest of two men for an incident that occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 2:22 a.m. in Westbury.

According to Detectives, Officers observed a suspicious vehicle swerving in and out of traffic in the vicinity of Carman Avenue and Stewart Avenue. During a Lawful Vehicle and Traffic Stop, Officers conducted an investigation and arrested a passenger of the vehicle, defendant Jordan Garcia Sanchez, 22, of 246 Linden Avenue in Westbury. One Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. The Officer was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of his injury. A switchblade knife was recovered from the defendant.

During the investigation defendant Christian Yhahyro Mejia Fuentes, 22, of 600 Fulton Avenue in Hempstead, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested without incident for possession of metal knuckles.

Defendant Sanchez is charged with Assault 2^nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2^nd Degree. He was arraigned on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.

Defendant Fuentes is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th Degree. He was released on an Appearance Ticket.
