Fourth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Queens woman for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 8:37 am in Woodmere.

According to Detectives, a female victim, 83, who suffers from a cognitive disorder was found to have a significant amount of bruising on her body. The victim’s legal guardian questioned the caretaker and was advised the victim fell on multiple occasions.  The concerned legal guardian placed a camera in the home.  While watching the camera footage, a woman was observed physically abusing the victim by striking, grabbing, yanking and punching the victim’s face and body. Police were notified and Merlyn Fredericks, 36, of 11820 155^th Street was arrested without incident.

Defendant Merlyn Frederick is charged with Assault 2^nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of Incompetent/Physically Disabled Person 1^st Degree and Endanger Vulnerable Elderly/Incompetent Person 2^nd Degree.  She will be arraigned on Friday, March 7, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
