
Fourth Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Queens woman for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at 8:37 am in Woodmere.
According to Detectives, a female victim, 83, who suffers from a cognitive disorder was found to have a significant amount of bruising on her body. The victim’s legal guardian questioned the caretaker and was advised the victim fell on multiple occasions. The concerned legal guardian placed a camera in the home. While watching the camera footage, a woman was observed physically abusing the victim by striking, grabbing, yanking and punching the victim’s face and body. Police were notified and Merlyn Fredericks, 36, of 11820 155th Street was arrested without incident.
Defendant Merlyn Frederick is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Endangering the Welfare of Incompetent/Physically Disabled Person 1st Degree and Endanger Vulnerable Elderly/Incompetent Person 2nd Degree. She will be arraigned on Friday, March 7, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
