The Arson Bomb Squad is investigating a house fire that occurred on Friday, January 24, 2025 at 2:01 pm in Elmont.

According to detectives, Fifth precinct police responded to a Hoffman Avenue residential house fire. Upon arrival, officers observed the second floor of the home fully engulfed with flames. The Elmont Fire department along with the Valley Stream Fire department responded to extinguish the flames. The home suffered substantial damage as well as to the west side of a home next door due to the heat from the flames. The Nassau County Fire Marshall responded to the scene. One 85-year-old female resident was transported to a nearby local hospital without injury as a precaution. The investigation is ongoing.
