The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Seaford man for Burglary that occurred on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 10:33 pm in Seaford.
According to detectives, an 81 year old male victim was returning to his New York Avenue home. As he opened his front door a male subject ran out the door and westbound onto New York Avenue. An off duty Nassau County Police Officer was driving through the neighborhood and observed the subject running through the streets and was able to provide a description and direction of travel to responding officers. Seventh Precinct Officers observed the subject climbing a fence in the rear yard of a Charles Court home. As one officer tried to grab onto the subject, he began kicking and striking the officer several times in the shoulder. After a brief struggle, defendant Erik Cardace, 37, of 3981 Beechwood Place was placed under arrest at 11:37 pm. A gold colored watch and US currency were recovered.
The officer was transported to a local hospital and was treated and released for an injury to his shoulder.
Defendant Cardace is being charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and Assault 2nd Degree. The defendant was transported to a local hospital for treatment of an unrelated medical condition and will be arraigned when medically practical.
