The First Squad reports the arrest of a Uniondale man for an incident that occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 3:22 pm in Uniondale.

According to Detectives, two motorists became engaged in a road rage incident at the intersection of Greengrove Avenue and Front Street. The Defendant Matthew Otto, 72, of 490 Cedar Street had a verbal argument with a male victim, 69.  The argument escalated and the victim and the defendant both exited their vehicles. The defendant then retrieved a wooden baton from his trunk and began swinging it at the victim, placing him in fear for his life.  The Defendant then began smashing the windows on the victims 2018 Toyota Camry before striking the victim in his arm.

Upon police arrival, officers placed the defendant into custody without further incident. Both the victim and the defendant were transported to local area hospitals for evaluation and treatment.    

Defendant Matthew Otto is charged with Criminal Mischief 4^th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th Degree and Assault 2^nd Degree. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
