The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for an Attempted Robbery that occurred on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 8:40 pm in East Garden City.

According to detectives, a male victim, 16, was waiting for a bus at 630 Old Country Road and was approached by an unknown male wearing a face covering.  The male subject displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded a red sweater the victim was wearing before fleeing the scene.  The victim then called police.  

Upon officer arrival, the male subject was located a short distance away and the Defendant Christian Altidor, 19, 266 William Street, was placed into custody.  No injuries were reported.

During the investigation, police recovered a black airsoft handgun.

Defendant Altidor is charged with Attempted Robbery 1^st Degree, Menacing 2^nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th Degree and Title 90- Mask Transparency Act.   He will be arraigned on Friday, April 25, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
