The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Herricks man for an incident that occurred on Monday, April 14, 2025 at 5:45 pm in N New Hyde Park.
According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance at a N New Hyde Park residence. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Christopher Collins, 24, of 19 Moore Street, was involved in an altercation with a male victim, 23. During the dispute, the defendant physically forced his way through the front door of the victim’s home. While inside, the defendant removed a spray paint can from his pocket and sprayed the victim in his face. Defendant Collins struck the victim multiple times on the head with the spray paint can and a wooden model boat. The victim suffered bruising and a laceration to the back of his head, causing him substantial pain. Eventually the victim was able to push the defendant out of his house and he called police. The defendant then picked up a rock and threw it at the victim’s home, causing damage to the house before fleeing the scene.
A short time later, the defendant was located and arrested without incident.
The victim refused medical attention at the scene.
Defendant Christopher Collins is charged with Burglary 1st Degree, two (2) counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 in First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
