The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Florida man for an Elder Scam Larceny that occurred on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. in Hicksville.
According to Detectives, a female Hicksville resident was the victim of an elder scam. The victim was contacted by an individual claiming to be a representative from the Nassau Federal Credit Union’s Fraud Department. The person stated that the victims bank account had been compromised and the she needed to withdraw $45,000 from her bank in order to keep the money safe. The victim had previously been scammed out of money after observing a pop up on her computer claiming that her network had been hacked, but this time she called 911. Detectives and Officers coordinated efforts to locate and arrest the defendant Jian Hua Ren, 50, of 4013 Palladian Way, Melbourne, Florida.
Defendant Ren is charged with Attempted Grand Larceny 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
