The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Valley Stream man for an Assault that occurred on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 12:30 am in Valley Stream. 

According to Detectives, Officers responded to J & F Jimenez Deli located at 240 Rockaway Avenue for a disturbance. Upon police arrival, a female victim, 31, stated while attempting to break up a fight the Defendant Jose Velasquez, 38, of 27 W Hawthorne Avenue brandish a knife resulting in the victim sustaining a laceration to her left hand. The defendant was placed under arrest without incident. The victim refused medical attention. No other injuries were reported. 

Defendant Jose Velasquez is charged with Assault 2^nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, July 22, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
