The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Levittown woman for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law) on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at 12:04 AM in Levittown.
According to Police, Officers responded to Flamingo Road for a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had struck an unoccupied parked vehicle. The investigation revealed the driver, defendant Jessica Lemus, 21 of 10 Family Lane, had slurred speech, watery eyes, was unsteady on her feet and had an odor of alcohol emanating from her breath. A Standardized Field Sobriety Test was conducted resulting in positive results and defendant Jessica Lemus was placed under arrest without incident. No injuries reported at scene. The vehicles two 15-year-old male juvenile passengers were released into the custody of a family member that responded to scene.
Defendant Jessica Lemus is charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16) under the Leandra’s Law, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Driving While Intoxicated and Operating a Motor Vehicle by an Unlicensed Driver. She will be arraigned on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
