The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of an individual for his role in the death of an elderly woman that occurred on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 2:40 p.m. in Roosevelt.
According to Detectives, Officers responded to a residence in Roosevelt to perform a well check. Officers discovered an elderly female who was unresponsive and transported her to a local area hospital. On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the female victim was pronounced by hospital staff. The female victim has been identified as Carmel McDougall, 85, of Roosevelt.
Upon further investigation, Homicide Detectives determined that the victim’s son, defendant Michael Rainford McDougall, 65, of Roosevelt was responsible for the injuries which caused her death. On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Nassau County Homicide Detectives placed defendant McDougall under arrest.
Additionally, Detectives also arrested the victim’s daughter defendant Nichole McDougall Mullings, 55, of Roosevelt, for other abusive actions that occurred on August 30, 2024.
Defendant Michael Rainford McDougall is charged with Manslaughter 2nd Degree.
Defendant Nichole McDougall Mullings is charged with Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person 1st Degree.
Both defendants were arraigned on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
