The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Farmingdale man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred in Farmingdale on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 6:27 pm.
According to detectives, Second Precinct Police Officers responded to a call for a suspicious male with a gun at Dollar Tree located at 95 Fulton Street. Second Precinct Police with the assistance of Bureau of Special Operation Officers were able to locate the defendant Jovan A. Banks, 25, of 7 Woodward Parkway walking west in the vicinity of Dunkin Donuts located at 575 Fulton Street. As officer’s approached the defendant, he fled and a brief chase on foot ensued. Defendant Banks was placed into police custody in the rear of 655 Fulton Street. Recovered at the scene was a black handgun and a knife. A subsequent investigation revealed that the defendant earlier abducted a 30 year old female at gun point at a James Street residence.
Jovan A. Banks was charged with 3 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st Degree, and Kidnapping 2nd Degree. He will be charged at First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, November 23, 2015.
