The Homicide Squad is investigating a Serious Vehicular Accident that occurred in Hempstead on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 12:28 am.
According to detectives, a 33 year old male and a 25 year old female were occupants travelling in a 2015 Nissan Altima west on Front Street in the vicinity of Orchid Street when their auto did collide head on with a 2004 Mercedes Benz travelling east driven by a 59 year old male. The 33 year old male complained of knee and leg pain and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. The 25 year old female identified as Diamond R. Hawkins of Lakeview was pronounced deceased at 2:53 am by Mercy Hospital personnel. An investigation is determining who the driver of the 2015 Nissan was. The 59 year old male was transported to a local hospital and treated and evaluated for complaints of pain.
Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety inspections. The investigation is ongoing.
