Fourth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Malverne man for an attempted assault which occurred in Island Park on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 2:21 A.M.

According to detectives, Robert Locascio, 47, of 484 Cornwell Ave., while inside The Local Ale House located at 140 Long Beach Rd., broke the front window of the bar with a 2 by 4 and then fled the scene in a 1999 Ford Ranger. A male victim, 29, who was hanging on outside the driver’s side of the defendant’s car was dragged over one hundred feet while on the northbound lanes of Long Beach Rd. Fourth Precinct Police officers located the defendant, who was intoxicated, in the area and placed him under arrest. The defendant was also in possession of metal knuckles.

The victim sustained injuries to his head, face and knees and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Locascio is being charged with Assault 1st Degree (Attempt), Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, Reckless Driving, Criminal Possession Weapon 4th Degree and DWI. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, October 27, 2015 in First District Court, Hempstead.
